NYP DND 2012

This year, Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) turns 20!

To celebrate this occasion, NYP had its Nanyang Polytechnic Dinner and Dance 2012 in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) and I was super excited to go with Poh as it was my first time visiting the place. Yes… I’m that sua ku. Heehee… I have not even been to Universal Studios!

As the dress code was formal, Poh got me a lovely dress for the event (which I would feature soon in my Project A-Dress-A-Day) and himself a really nice coat. We made our way there early to avoid the working crowd that would be docking off on a Friday evening and I learnt a few things on our way in.

Do you know:

1. You don’t have to enter Sentosa to enter RWS?

2. The carparks have signs so clearly written on the walls and hanging overhead one would have no problem navigating their way around?

3. There’s cabby service in the carpark! (That means after you parked your car, you can hop on to one of the golf cabbies that would bring you to the lift lobby.)

I was pretty impressed by how organised the whole place was. *Two Thumbs Up*

The ballroom was just 1 floor down from where we alighted from the golf cabby so we took a little tour around before we went over.

Doesn’t this picture reminds you of Jay Chou’s 葉惠美 Album Cover?

No offence to Jay Chou’s Fans intended! Heehee…

Perhaps it’s just me. Heehee…

After the quick tour around, we made our way down to basement 1 where the ballroom was located.

Not only was the ballroom huge, I love the intricate design of the ceiling and the beautiful lamps that adorned it.

Poh spotted his colleagues amidst the crowd and joined them. We also took a few shot with the 2oth Anniversary Billboard!

Soon after, there was an announcement that the dinner was commencing and we hurried to our seats. The guests of honour arrived shortly after and the Ministry of Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat and the Principal and CEO of Nanyang Polytechnic, Mr Chan Lee Mun were invited to give their speech on stage. We were then treated to a sumptuous eight course dinner which was very filling. Like all formal events, the atmosphere was quite serious though there were some performance put up by NYP students. Even so, as I got a seat with its rear facing the stage, I could not view what was there but nonetheless, I kept myself busy with eating and photo-taking! Heehee.

The mood lightened up nearer the end of the dinner. While everyone was busily mingling, Poh and friends decided to leave early and we headed to Prive at Keppel Bay for some light refreshments before we called it a day.

Nice Car Spotted!

It was an eye-opener for me as I was visiting RWS  for the first time. Of course, it would have been better if I was there for a leisure staycation. Heehee.

Til the next post! 🙂
